Springtime is here and it is time to update your wardrobe. Whether you've started shopping already or you're still cozied up in your winter sweater waiting for the "real" sunshine, I have compiled a quick rundown of the "must haves" for a Spring rejuvenation.
First off, replace your foundations. This can include new bras, underwear, shapewear, and hosiery. Generally, foundations should be replaced every 6 months, because they stretch from the heat of our bodies. Proper undergarments are a prerequisite to any great wardrobe. Don't skip this step.
Spring foundations: A convertible bra, strapless bra, bandeau, nude shapewear, and nude, toeless nylons.
As your body acclimates to the weather change, add items that can be worn with your winter attire, but embody Spring. Switch out layering pieces such as tank tops and t-shirts in Spring colors and prints. New accessories like scarves, shoes, and handbags will instantly transform your season.
Spring colors: Pastels - Duck egg blue, lavender, peach; Bold tones - lemon, cherry tomato, palace blue Spring prints: vintage florals, polka dots, stripes or geometric prints.

Both traditional and non-traditional textiles can be found in Spring 2018. Popular fabrics of cotton, silk, and sheer fabrics of lace, linen, and gauze will delight the "classic" individual. A trendsetter will love all the clashing fabrications like velvet, satin, rubber/plastic, suede, and metallics adorned with sequins and crystals. I say, try a little of both.
What to buy: velvet camisole, rubber/plastic anorak coat, lace blouse, metallic shoes and a silk dress.
Time and culture have influenced Spring trends this year. Fashion resembling the 80's and 90's cultism are huge this season. Think oversized denim jackets, bodysuits, wide legged pants, and of course sneakers. The athleisure trend and Americana are highly visible in the throwback trends. In contrast is the Japonica trend, influenced by Japanese culture with kimono-like dresses and obi belts accentuating the waistline. Put all those elements together with 3-dimensional accents made from tulle, ruffles, fringe, and feathers and you've got ingenuity at it's finest. Be sure to pair these trends with neutral clean lines for balance.
What to buy: Obi belt, cotton ruffled blouse, high waisted wide leg pants, fringe handbag
I believe each new item that comes into your wardrobe should be complementary to its counterparts. Some trends are worth incorporating, while others should be left alone. At the beginning of a season change, take inventory of what you already own to avoid buying duplicates. Fashion is really just a word until someone gives it definition. It's all your personal style and every detail of every outfit should always be intentional.
